here, there and everywhere

A summary of summer vacations.

Wyoming.
This July, my great grandpa Carl Robinson was inducted into the Afton, Wyoming Hall of Fame. So of course it turned into a Robinson family reunion. The Orsaks came with us and off we went, to stay in the Mountain Inn Condos. A family favorite.

This year, at least, the pool was actually open! So we did a little swimming.

We attended the City Council meeting where the actual inducting took place.

We got to see the Fourth of July parade! It was approximately one block long. It went up one side of Main Street, and down the other. So you could see it from every angle. Conner loved it. It had a lot of horses.

Notice the world's largest Elk Horn Arch in the background.

The Carl Robinson Family float was a big hit.

We even participated a little bit.

We had a nice little dinner with our whole extended family. These are all of my grandpa's siblings.

Conner and Lauren had a lot of fun doing sidewalk chalk. Unfortunately, I was throwing up by this point. It wasn't a super fun ride home.

California.
Also in July, Lauren had a dance convention in LA. So my parents and I decided to tag along and make it a family vacation. The convention was actually in our hotel and that's where Lauren spent most of her time. I think she left the hotel twice to walk over to the mall across the street to get some food. On the other hand, my parents and I got to hang out quite a bit and we were leaving the hotel left and right. We did lots of cool things. My dad and I went to the LA Museum of Natural History, my mom and I hung out at the pool, we had breakfast on the beach, went out to dinner every night, and I even got to spend one day at Six Flags with my friend Johnny Watkins.

One evening, my parents and I drove to the Santa Monica Pier for sunset and dinner. Here lies the end of Route 66.

My parents are the cutest.

The sunset was pretty incredible and it was fun to be right on the pier for it.

Lauren did an incredible job dancing. Her trio made me cry a little bit.

On our way home, we stopped by the LA temple to take some pictures.

..And we had to stop by the fountain as well.

Instead of driving straight home, we stopped at St. George and stayed in our good friends the Glovers' condo. It was super. We went swimming. Then we got Cafe Rio the next day before returning back to Orem.

Camping.
On the Thursday before Labor Day Weekend, my mom asked me what we should do for Labor Day Weekend. I said camping. She said really? Because Labor Day Weekend is probably the biggest camping weekend of the year. But I really like camping and we haven't been forever. So. My parents drove up Thursday afternoon and reserved a spot. Then they came back and my dad and I packed up all our stuff and just left. It was very spur-of-the-moment and exciting. And great.

My dad made some of the best fires I've ever seen.

The Orsaks joined us for dinner Friday night.

As well as some fishing for the boys. My dad caught one and Conner put his finger in its mouth.

And rock throwing. There was a lot of rock throwing involved for Conner.

Friday night, whilst sitting around the camp fire, I broke through my chair.

And couldn't stop laughing.

To my defense, the chair had been getting quite worn down all summer.

Lauren and I forded the river to get a rock.

This rock. Worth it? Yes. Was the river freezing? Also yes.

All in all, it was a successful summer.

being for the benefit of mr. kite!

The Balloon Man came to the Library on Tuesday!
It was so great. He had a mustache and was extremely serious about his ballooning. He had an apron with about 50 different pockets, filled with about 50 different colors of balloons. He taught us how to make a flower first. We started on the stems, making the leaves. After he explained the first leaf, I went ahead and completed the second leaf as well, since I already had a basic understanding of balloon twisting. The Balloon Man then looked right at me and said, "I see we have some people here that are a little more advanced and have gone ahead." Yes, I am advanced, because my sweet mother sent me a balloon animal making kit for my birthday. I think I might be able to make a career out of this if need be.

i'm in love

I want one of these.

They are pygmy goats and they're about 20 inches tall when full grown. They make great pets.

But who knew goat pupils looked like this? It kind of creeps me out.

good morning good morning

Yes, I did tear up a little at the gym when I saw this commercial.

Ahh. Inspiring.
